Admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1978, Mr. Dang earned his J.D. degree from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Dang was elected as a state legislator in the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 1982 and served as Assistant Minority Floor Leader. He’s now a registered lobbyist. For 11 years in the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Dang was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of an FDIC-insured Hawaii financial institution.
NCBA President Steve Markoff appointed Mr. Dang to be Parliamentarian (an officer position) for 2021-2023. He previously served as Parliamentarian from 2019-2021 and 2015-2017 and he was an NCBA Director from 2017-2019. With the Collection Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Mr. Dang is the Immediate Past Chair and serves on the Board of Directors.
He’s currently a member of the Hawaii State Judiciary’s Committee on District Court Civil Rules and Forms having been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court. Mr. Dang was a per diem Hearings Officer with the Hawaii Judiciary.
Mr. Dang holds leadership positions in the American Bar Association. He was elected as a member of the Board of Governors for a 3 year term (2020-2023). He’s a member of the ABA House of Delegates and served on the Steering Committee of the ABA’s Nominating Committee.
